4、itiesagainstbovinecoronavirusandrotaviruswerereadilyinactivatedbytreatmentwithacetoneor2-mercaptoethanol.SomeserafrectionatedbySephadexG-200gelfiltrationorstarchblockelectrophoresishadneutralizingactivitiesagainstbovineparvovirusorcoronavirusinfractionscontainingnodetectableamountsofimmunoglobulins.
5、Theseobservationsseemtoindicatethepresenceofsubstance(s),otherthanimmunoglobulins,capableofinhibitingreplicationofbovineparvovirus,coronavirusorrotavirus.Thechemicalnatureandthemodeofactionoftheinhibitorsawaitelucida-tion.INTRODUCTIONTransplacentaltransferofmaternalimmunoglobulinsdoesnotoccurincattl
6、e,andthenewbornanimalacquiresmaternalantibodiesbyingestingcolostrum(Brambell,1970;Solomon,1971).Ontheotherhand,bovinefetusesdeveloptheabilitytoproduceantibodiesuponantigenicstimulationrelativelyearlyingestation(Solomon,1971;Osburn,1973;Schultz,1973;Schultzetal.,1973).Manyworkershavereportedthepresen
