4、wingtoofferanopportunityforthedevelopmentoffasterimage/videoanalysisandrecognitionsystems.Inaddition,fuzzy-basedsegmentationalgorithmshaveessentiallycontributedtosynthesisofregionsforbet-terrepresentationofobjects.Thesealgorithmshaveminordifferencesintheirperformanceandthe
5、yallperformwell.Thus,theselectionofonealgorithmvs.anotherwillbebasedonsubjectivecriteria,or,drivenbytheapplicationitself.Here,alow-costembeddedreconfigurablearchitecturefortheFuzzy-likereason-ingsegmentation(FRS)methodispresented.TheFRSmethodhasthreestages(smoothing,edgede
6、tectionandtheactualsegmentation).Theinitialsmoothingoperationisintendedtoremovenoise.Thesmootherandedgedetectoralgorithmsarealsoincludedinthisprocessingstep.Thesegmentationalgorithmusesedgeinformationandthesmoothedimagetofindsegmentspresentwithintheimage.InthisworktheFRSse
