3、oTGEvirusofswine,hasaworldwidedistribution.Ithasbeenshownrecentlytoreplicateinlaboratoryrodents.SeveralobservationsindicateanimmunepathogenesisofFIP.INTRODUCTIONFelineinfectiousperitonitis(FIP)isavariablyprogressive,usuallyfatalcondi-tion,affectingdomesticandwildFelidae,whichischara
4、cterizedbyfever,anor-exia,depressionandascites.Themostprominentfeaturesuponpost-mortemexaminationarediffusefibrinousperitonitis,mesothelialhyperplasiaandfocalnecrosisinparenchymatousorgans.TheaetiologicalagentisavirusbelongingtotheCoronaviridaefamily,whichisantigenicallyrelatedtotra
5、nsmissiblegastroenteritis(TGE)virusofswine.Inthepresentarticleashortreviewisattemptedoftheclinical,pathologicalandepidemiologicalaspectsofthedisease;specialattentionisgiventothecharacterizationofFIPviruswhichhasbeensubjecttointensivestudyintheauthor’slaboratoryduringthelast2years.Di
