3、ndthisprotocolwasthatifinformationsentoveranetworkfailedtogetthroughononeroute,itwouldfindanotherroutetoworkwith,aswellasestablishingameansforonecomputerto"talk"toanothercomputer,regardlessofwhetheritwasaPCoraMacintosh.Bythe80'sArpanet,justyearsawayfrombecomingthemorewellknownInte
4、rnet,had200computers.TheDefenseDepartment,satisfiedwithArpanet’sresults,decidedtofullyadoptitintoservice,andconnectedmanymilitarycomputersandresourcesintothenetwork.Arpanetthenhad562computersonitsnetwork.Bytheyear1984,ithadover1000computersonitsnetwork.In1986Arpanet(supposedly)shu
5、tdown,butonlytheorganizationshutdown,andtheexistingnetworksstillexistedbetweenthemorethan1000Computers.ItshutdownduetoafailedlinkupwithNSF,whowantedtoconnectits5countywidesupercomputersintoArpanet.WiththefundingofNSF,newhighspeedlinesweresuccessfullyinstalledatlinespeedsof56k(anor
