3、itingthesameenvironments.Sequencecomparisonsweremadefrom1.2-to8.9-kbsegmentsonthe39endofthegenome.FECV/FIPVpairsfromthesamecatteriesorshelterswere97.3±99.5%relatedbutweregeneticallydistinctfromFIPVandFECVstrainsobtainedfromcatslivingingeographicallydistinctenvironments.Thehighgeneticsimilaritybetw
4、eenFECVsandFIPVsfromthesameenvironmentstronglysuggestedacommonancestry.BasedonthepresenceofdeletionmutationsintheFIPVsandnotintheFECVs,itwasconcludedthatFIPVsevolvedasmutantsofFECVs.ThemutationsaredeletionsintheFIPVsandnotinsertionsintheFECVssincesimilarsequencesarepresentinotherstrainsthathaveseg
